Rising Water Levels in Major Rivers

The situation in rivers remains critical.

At Shahdara, water flow in the Ravi River has crossed 183,000 cusecs and may reach 200,000 cusecs by afternoon.

The Ravi Siphon is currently handling 192,000 cusecs, with rising pressure.

In Chenab River, a surge of 600,000 cusecs has entered Kot Momin, with fears of a 1 million cusecs flood wave.

The Sutlej River has also overflowed, breaching temporary embankments in Bahawalpur and flooding nearby villages.

Rescue and Relief Efforts Underway

Rescue operations are in full swing. The administration, army, and Rangers have intensified relief work. Additional boats and rescue teams have been deployed. Evacuations from low-lying areas are ongoing, though thousands remain trapped in flooded homes.

Authorities have demolished two bunds to protect Multan city from the floodwaters. The Lahore Commissioner confirmed that evacuations around Ravi have been completed, while efforts continue in nearby settlements.

Sindh and Balochistan on High Alert

The federal government has issued rain and flood alerts for Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot. Sindh is on high alert, while the Balochistan government has also mobilized emergency resources.

Heavy Losses to Agriculture and Infrastructure

Floodwaters have devastated cotton, rice, and other crops. Thousands of acres of fertile land are now submerged. Villagers are reporting fast soil erosion, worsening the destruction. Roads, bridges, and basic infrastructure have also sustained heavy damage.

Public Concern Grows as Danger Persists

Citizens continue to express concern as water levels rise. With major rivers still under pressure, the threat remains far from over. Relief efforts are ongoing, but authorities warn the situation could worsen if rainfall continues.
