Ducky Bhai Confesses in Betting App Case, Seeks Public Apology

Famous Pakistani YouTuber Saad Ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, admitted guilt in the ongoing betting app case. He was arrested on 16 August for promoting online betting and gambling platforms and was handed over to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Confession and Public Apology

Speaking to the media outside the court for the first time, Ducky Bhai confessed and apologized:

He admitted to creating roasting videos in the past, calling them “unethical.”

He acknowledged that he promoted betting apps without verifying their legality.

He explained that these apps were widely advertised on TV and during PSL matches, which made him assume they were legal.

In a viral video, Ducky Bhai said, “I made a mistake by promoting such apps without checking their background. I apologize to the nation for this.”

Court Proceedings and Remand Extensions

Initially, the Lahore court approved a 2-day physical remand of Saad Ur Rehman on NCCIA’s request. Later, his remand was extended by 4 more days.

On 23 August, after completion of the 4-day remand, Ducky Bhai was presented before the Judicial Magistrate. The court then approved an additional 5-day remand for further investigation.

Role of Arub Jatoi in the Case

The case also involves Ducky Bhai’s wife, Arub Jatoi, who has been named as a suspect. However, the Lahore Sessions Court granted her interim bail and ordered authorities not to arrest her until 30 August.

Growing Concerns Over Betting Apps in Pakistan

The Ducky Bhai scandal highlights the growing issue of online betting apps in Pakistan. Many influencers unknowingly promote such platforms, assuming them to be legal because of their visibility during mainstream events like cricket tournaments.

Cyber experts warn users and influencers to verify all sponsorships and advertisements before endorsing them online.
