Pakistani actor Danesh Taimoor’s latest drama serial Mann Mast Malang has come under heavy criticism for a romantic scene that viewers have slammed as inappropriate and bordering on harassment.
Danesh Taimoor, who began his acting career in 2005 with the horror drama Mystery Series, quickly rose to prominence with his versatile performances. His talent expanded beyond television, as he stepped into the film industry with Yasir Jaswal’s thriller Jalaibee in 2015, followed by roles in Wrong Number (2015) and Mehrunisa V Lub U (2017) opposite Sana Javed.
Currently, he stars in Mann Mast Malang, a popular Geo TV drama that has amassed over 500 million views on YouTube. The series has gained a strong following not only in Pakistan but also in countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and others across South Asia.
Penned by Tere Bin writer Nooran Maqsood and directed by Ali Faizan, the story revolves around Kabir Khan (Danesh Taimoor) and Riya Asghar Ali (Sehar Hashmi), whose families turn into bitter enemies after a tragic accident.
However, a recent scene from the drama—featuring Kabir forcefully dancing with Riya—has sparked widespread outrage online. Viewers have described the moment as deeply uncomfortable and accused the show of portraying harassment under the guise of romance.
“There’s a limit to indecency. Fear God—are you trying to corrupt society?” one user wrote on social media.
“There’s no difference between Indian and Pakistani dramas anymore. Pakistani serials were once known for their cultural depth and respectful romance. Now, they’re promoting vulgarity,” commented another critic.
“Shocking! Once upon a time, heroes wouldn’t even hold hands with heroines. Now, we’re seeing this kind of shameless content,” read one post.
“These dramas are damaging innocent minds,” another user added.
Despite having aired 41 episodes so far and receiving praise for its overall plot, Mann Mast Malang is now under scrutiny. The controversial scenes have sparked a fierce debate, dividing the audience and raising questions about the role of television in shaping cultural norms.
